I’m excited to finally welcome everyone back to the start of a new semester. Things have got up and running quickly around Drury University and I’m already looking forward to the events and programming that lie ahead.
A quick look though Drury’s official Twitter feed (@DruryUniversity) shows plenty of activity both in the humanities and all around campus.
The incoming freshman class finished up their four-day orientation with the annual service plunge, where they participate in community service in and around Springfield.
But the orientation wasn’t officially over until the big finale: the fireworks.
We in the humanities at Drury have big plans for the year. We once again have a full house at the Humanities House.
And at the Rose O’Neil House.
We also welcome our first group of residents into the Foreign Languages House.
We’re happy to announce the continuation of our main humanities programming. We will once again offer a year-long film series, generously funded by grants from the Missouri Humanities Council and from the Moxie Cinema.
We will also continue our Reading Discussion Series, our Speaker Series, and our Thinking Aloud Discussion Series. Detailed schedules for each of these series will be forthcoming and will include titles of films, books, and talks, along with dates and locations for each of the events. Stay tuned!
Here’s to the start of another great year!
